Felicity Steadman, a member of our Workplace Panel, was recently interviewed by the BBC as part of an article on people sent in to fix toxic office relationships. Felicity, who has been untangling workplace disputes for more than 26 years, shared her experiences in helping individuals who work together in mending relationships which can have severe impacts on both the individuals involved and the businesses around them. As the article details, it is estimated that workplace conflict costs companies $359 billion a year in the US alone in 2008, figures based on American employees spending an average of 2.8 hours a week in dealing with conflict. In Germany and Ireland the figures are even higher.
Felicity's skills lie in helping individuals articulate what they believe has gone wrong in the relationship before then helping the parties find a way that they can then move forwards and continue to work together. Rebuilding these relationships and improving the workplace environment can be life-changing for those who have been affected by the relationship breakdown.
